SouthPark Picks – JULY 14, 2019
Oh, what a wonderful place to live in Charlotte – SouthPark! Our community is filled with plenty to do – from dining and entertainment to shopping and recreation – we have it all!
Here are this week’s picks for things to do in SouthPark:
Restaurant - This week’s featured place to dine by night is is Rooster’s Wood-fired Kitchen. While it’s nearly time for restaurant week, (July 19 – 28), Rooster’s is not participating this year but, is a great option if you want ‘the pick of the menu.’

Entertainment – I don’t know about you but, my boys were BIG into Legos – and this was before they were a ‘thing!’ Discovery Place Science is hosting the LEGO event through September 2, 2019. The Towers of Tomorrow with LEGO® Bricks is a traveling exhibit that includes 20 iconic, gravity-defying skyscrapers from around the world. There are also 200,000 LEGO bricks available for guests to create their own iconic tower!
Tickets for a full-day admission are $22 for adults, $18 for children, $20 for seniors, $3 for members and FREE for children younger than 2.

Shopping – This weeks featured shopping is not a single shop but, an upscale SouthPark center that is undergoing a major facelift right now – Phillips Place. I wanted to feature this live/work/shopping community because despite the construction that is currently taking place, know that access in and out of the shops there is easy and painless, as always. With the Dean & DeLuca parking/access being the ‘staging’ ground for the construction traffic/vehicles/building materials, the other shops, condos, apartments and restaurants are easily accessible. So, take some time to explore Phillips Place – we think you’re going to find many shops & restaurants there that will become ‘favorites’ of yours as well.
Recreation – Park Road Park comes to mind as our favorite to visit this week. Our fur baby boys love visiting this park, located at 5300 Closeburn Road (28209). Park Road Park features:
- 72 acres
12 lighted tennis courts
- 8 basketball courts
- 2 horseshoe pits
- 2 concession stands
- 6 baseball/softball fields
- Volleyball court
- 4 picnic shelters
- Walking trails
- 11 acre lake with pier
- Newtown Memorial Playground
Neighborhood – This week’s featured SouthPark neighborhood is Barclay Downs. Looking for that perfect SouthPark location? Discover popular Charlotte neighborhood, Barclay Downs, an established community of over 400 homes, located in walking distance to SouthPark Mall, one of the most popular malls in the Carolinas. We think you’ll love living in Barclay Downs.
