Homeownership Will Always Be a Part of the American Dream
On Labor Day we celebrate hard work and, for many, the achievement of the American Dream.
Growing up, many of us thought about our future lives with great ambition. We drew pictures of what we viewed as our careers; my girlfriends and I always dreamed of Prince Charming and starting a family. And, we always seemed to love drawing pictures of houses – of course, the ones with smoke coming out of the chimney and the white picket fence out front! Remember that?
Today we celebrate the workers that make this country a place where those dreams can truly become a reality. Hard work that occurs every day across this country, allows so many to achieve the American Dream. The National Association of Realtors (NAR) does an extensive survey each year and the 2019 Aspiring Home Buyers Profile offers this tidbit:
“9 in 10 current homeowners believe that homeownership is part of the American Dream.”
Increasing home prices and low inventory are solid reasons why some homebuyers haven’t yet realized the American Dream. In fact, (as shown in the graph below), at the end of 2018, 84% of non-homeowners surveyed, DO want to own a home:

Each quarter, more and more Americans aspire to buy a home. So, instead of fearing the worst (recession), focus on the fact that as more inventory hits the market, more non-homeowners will finally be able to fulfill their American Dream.
If you’re a Charlotte homeowner and considering selling, this fall may just be the right time for you, as there are buyers in the market ready to buy. Let’s talk! Call or text (704) 491-3310.
