Charlotte’s Economic Renaissance – 2019
Charlotte is in the midst of an economic renaissance that is sprouting up in a multitude of areas in the region, both attracting major corporations new to the area and birthing dozens of new startups across a variety of industries. Why Charlotte? Well, we have 4 seasons, a warmer climate and incredible positioning in the Piedmont region of the state – approximately 2.5 hours to both the beaches and the mountains.
The affordability factor lends itself to all generations and who doesn’t like the fact that we have (at this writing!) 28 different breweries, along with a hot, hot job market!
Oh yes, Charlotte was once considered a dyed-in-the-wool banking town. Now, she has given birth to an exploding startup scene—led by a financial tech (fintech) sector that has thrived as a result of local financial heavyweights and massive accelerator programs. Software firms like Passport, Stratifyd, and MapAnything (acquired by Salesforce in April) are leading the way in the software start-up arena.
BB&T and SunTrust’s merger, rebranding themselves as the curiously named Truist (likely to soon have another, final name) happened earlier this year and there was truly (pun intended!) only one logical choice for the financial giant to house their new headquarters. As we are conveniently located between BB&T’s Winston-Salem headquarters to the north and SunTrust’s Atlanta stronghold to the south, relocation to the nation’s #2 banking center was a no-brainer.
The fifth-fastest growing city in the US, Charlotte has not only welcomed the BB&T/SunTrust merger of recent but, Honeywell and Lowe’s made major moves to relocate headquarters or vast technology offices here. Perhaps this explains the need for expansion into areas that are both convenient to public transportation but, the growing lifestyle needs by those relocating to the area.
Charlotte is luring people from across the country with the promise of a better quality of life, wonderful job opportunities and a significantly lower cost of living. Why Charlotte, you ask? Why not? Thinking of relocating to our beautiful city? Let’s talk! Call or text (704) 491-3310 today!
