Seriously, this has been one sizzling-hot summer season and this past week’s rain was a welcomed blessing.

Regardless of the high temperatures, I’ve had an incredible summer and I have really appreciated our family swimming pool especially this season. Friends and family pool-side on weekends, firing up the grill for snacks and dinner, results in some good quality-family-time in my opinion!

Needless to say there are benefits and drawbacks to owning a home with an in-ground-pool and every home owner must make a personal decision.  Needless to say given Charlotte’s consistent summer weather, the normal swimming season is 5-6 months in duration and can also be easily extended using a moderately priced pool heater.

Positives vs. Negatives

The major negatives of buying a pool home are 2 fold:  Principally relating to the price in time and funds pertaining to routine maintenance along with consideration of small children. If you have small children safety measures around your pool have to be your highest priority.

For many people, the benefits of quality-time with friends and family, together with the recreational and health advantages of swimming, out weigh the financial cost of pool ownership. Nevertheless even athletically active families with young children often decide against pool ownership while their kids are very young.
