Complete with choreography by local resident, Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux (the artistic director at the Charlotte Ballet) and music from the Charlotte Symphony, the Nutcracker is a must-see holiday performance.

European-inspired Christmas market that features food and gift vendors, live performances and plenty of their signature warm, spiced wine, Glühwein.

This year marks Christmas Town USA’s 64th year! McAdenville, a small town (600 residents) located 25-30 minutes west of Charlotte on I-85 south, transforms into a magical Christmas Town each year (and has for decades). Residents themselves, set up over 500,000 lights, creating a breathtaking, drive-thru display that truly puts McAdenville on the national map. In fact, Christmas Town has been voted #2 in the nation for public holiday lights display by USA Today!

The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge hosts an annual gingerbread house competition for amateurs, pros and children alike. The displays are so very enchanting!

Price: Free, however, visitors can vote ($1/vote) for their favorite houses, with all proceeds benefiting the Levine Children’s Hospital.
‘Tis the season for the annual Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden transformation into a winter wonderland! Follow the one-mile trail with a million twinkling lights and fabulous, illuminated displays aglow throughout the gardens. You’ll enjoy live music performances, a holiday gift shop and special activities for the children.
Location: Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, 6500 South New Hope Road, Belmont NC 28012
Date: Daily through January 5 (closed Christmas Day)
Price: Children under 2 are free, $8.95 children 2-12, $14.95 seniors 60+, $16.95 adults (buy online to save $2)
The 3.5-mile drive-thru holiday light display features 3 million lights and choreographed illuminated displays. They will also feature a drive-in movie theater, playing classic holiday films as well as a festive holiday village with food, beverage and local gift vendors.

Date: Through December 29
